Davina is a talented Mezzo-soprano based in the North-East, taught by the renowned Miranda Wright, a prominent teacher at the Royal College of Music. A graduate of Newcastle University, Davina is preparing to audition for her Masters at Music College and is teaching across the North East in a variety of schools and privately. Davina’s singing passion started when she was Head Chorister at Durham Cathedral under the directorship of Dr James Lancelot.
Alongside her teaching, Davina regularly performs both as a soloist and chorally, singing with choirs such as Newcastle Cathedral Choir and the BBC singers. She also was the Alto section leader for the National Youth Choir of Great Britain under Nicholas Chalmers and directed the Newcastle University Chamber Choir during her degree. Honourable mentions of her solo performances include singing the lead role of Sorceress in Samling Academy’s production of Purcell’s ‘Dido and Aeneas’, where she sang alongside John Butt and the Dunedin consort. Additionally she played the main role of Oberon in Newcastle University’s Opera production of Purcell’s ‘A Midsummer Nights Dream’, directed by distinguished Opera Singer, Lawrence Zazzo. She has also performed as a soloist at the Glasshouse, Gateshead and the Royal Albert Hall with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Davina has been a guest Artist in the William Shield Festival accompanied by John Traherne and was the soloist in residence for the Bishop Wearmouth Choral Society with David Murray.
